Gay Games Day 4: Baptists in the Park

Today we got up and with to the Beach and watched volley ball player complete with each other. Then we walked over to Lincoln Park and went to the Zoo. David was wearing Gay Games shit and I was wearing my Gay Games Hat. We Kept having children say Hi to us in a sorta of smug condensing tone. Finally they asked us if we wanted water. Which at 90 some degees we agreed to. On the Bottle were Bible verse and explaining the truth meaning of the rainbow. A Baptist church was giving watch to Gay Games attendee . My feeling is they didn't push themselves on us and maybe they learned something about us probably there is a Gay or Lesbian in the group who might see us as real people.

Day 3 continued: afternoon in boystown

After lunch David and I thought we explore Boystown. It was in the 90's and we didn't get very far just to the movie theater and we watched Emmert Green after that's we ate a Nookie's and returned to our room . The Gay Games Participates were all going back to their room tired and serious about the games. The Pamper Chief Ladies were parting hardy.

Gay Games Day 3: Boldly Go where no man ...

The good news is the vet called first thing this morning. Zeppo was able to go out and have play time with one of the Care taker at the vets office. He is only allowed play time with Diana who dearly loves him. So maybe she put in a good word for him.
The Gay Games store on Michigan was closing and we should pick some T-shirts. At the Human Right booth was George Takei (AKA SULU). David was wear his carousel Broadway T-shirt. Which is David favorite Musical of all time. I on the other hand hate it with a passion, its about abuse.

Odds and Ends Day 1 and 2

Day 2 Pre Broadway

David and I slept in late very late 11:30 eastern standard time. It was the last day for Martin Short pre Broadway show Fame Becomes Me. The music was written by the same people who did Hairspray as a matter of fact one of the writer was in the show. It was great.
When we got back to the room the vet called to yell at me Zeppo had bitten for the care taker at the vet. His exact quote was "He will never be welcome here a again" and "All he'll get a dish of food under the door and that's it" This was the last chance vets where they take attack dogs so I don't know what I'm going to do now.

I took a long walk in millennium Party after that being depressed about Zeppo. The Pamper Chiefs ladies started arriving at the hotel.

Opening night at the Gay Games was wonderful. My only grip it was too much time was spent on American Politics. I had to wonder what people who travel all over the world thought listened to speech after speech about American failure to Gay Americans. The biggest applauds and standing ovation came the sole participate from Uruguay.The temperatures were in the 90's during the and I sit there in ill fitting underwear now I'm a 50 year old man with diaper rash.

David and I are packing up and heading to Chicago tomorrow for the Gay Games. I am excited I have never been to event of this size before. The ideal of meeting and talking to people from all over the world. I am getting a little worried about making to the opening event in time but it will all work out it always does. Packing use to such a simple thing now with laptop.digital cameras and cell phone it all alot more complicated. Its all good, and I'm excited that the best part.

Hanging Out

While David was away it my chance to relive the hanging out day's of my youth. I had mixed results, I did manage to talk to a few people that normally don't talk too. But all in all hanging out wasn't as much fun as I remember. Friday I went to my old hang out The Apartment Bar. I force myself away from the computer (my new best friend ) and went out, I wanted to leave after one beer but I then I remember I have a goal to just Hang out. I did see my favorite bartender who had lost a limb. I talk to few people that knew only by name so I guess it sucessful. The next day I went to the beach the weather was windy and uncomfortable. So I headed to teadance at the Dunes resort(see picture ). It was like the old days crowded lots of attractive Chicago guys there and I run into a few of Davids. Then I went the beach for sunset which was disappointing I did take a few photo I was home by 10:30. Some of hanging out was fun but mostly I would a enjoy a personal one to one conversation or acomplishing something

Hanging out

David is visiting his mother and farther this holiday weekend. Usually I prepare a huge list of chore that I want to and of course never do. This time my list consist of spending time just hanging out. As i got older I found I don't hang out like i did when i was younger. Part of it is ....its just seem wasteful use of time.
