Happy Feet

David and I seen "Happy Feet" on Saturday. It is the story of a penguin thats isolated, mistreated, ridiculed an embrassment to his family, because he's different. OK! I could relate. Tell me,why can't Hollywood produce a gay movie I can connect with?

Holiday Weekend

Thanksgiving didn't seem like a holiday with just the us two of us ,so at my insistent we started inviting guests over. We now have four regular guests who attend every year. This year we had 10 guest to the house.
Four of the guest had lived in New York City and told stories of Gay New York. Between "Joe My God" Blog and our company, New York sounds like place I want to see.
One of guys in his late 70's told a story of having to identified is Boyfriend after he been beat to death. I guess the upper level of the Met was a cruising place in the 50's and he picked someone up and was murdered. Another talked about New York in the early 80's when "the crises " hit. I was amazed at the way they could rattle off street corners and neighbors.
Dan, one of the guests, and David are both Jewish, each tried to outdo each other with jokes and Mother stories. Dan was disappointed the David didn't make his chopped liver- truth be told, I'm was little disappointed myself.

Early Christmas

I expect the sales records for Christsmas are going to be wonderful this season. Maybe, it's the election but. people are really into Christmas this year. People are humming Christmas tunes ,hanging lights and generally being more pleasant. Yes, even I'm starting to get "the Spirit".
I made Cowboy Cookies today,something I haven't done in years. Now,I remember why I stopped - I rediscovered that
A) it's expensive,when you don't have a single ingredient in the house.
B.) it's not fun as it sounds
C) 12 dozens cookies is a hell of a lot of cookies
D) My fire alarm alarm still works
E) It's messy
F) I hate all the work that went into them
If you're not familar with Cowboy Cookies, they, required large amounts of oakmill. At one point I thought the mixer burned out- the air was filled with a burned rubber smell. One sheet of cookies burned as I trying to stop the smoke alarm-I ended up removing the battery. Alas one tupperware container had to be toss in the trash it got too close to the hot cookie sheet.

Carrie Ann said it

My 81year old friend Carrie Ann and I were discussing Ted Haggard.
Carrie Ann stated "Well if anybody has to be gay, I'm glad it's him. He's got the mouth for it"

McDonalds

Mornings when I don't go into work early, I usually eat at McDonald's. I wish it was someplace cuter or trendier but-it's a McDonald's. Until recently it had a HO gauge train and a reproduction of the town inside. Now, it has been redecorated in earth tones, fireplace and big screen plasma television. I miss the train and the children who use to hit the switch to make it go. Except for 4 new coffee drinks it’s still the same old menu. I usually get an egg McMuffin unless, I'm hungrier then I order two breakfast burritos and if I want a treat I get Hot cakes.

There is always a group 4 to 15 senior citizens talking, laughing and lying-sort of geriatric friends. The group is ever changing new people added and others well ... enough say. Recently I notice one gentleman wife isn't there any more, I felt sad. When I get that age I want to be part of their group too. Get my senior coffee and hang with my pals, something to look forward to every day. Behind the counter are two middle age women who can't

A) Remember that I dine in

B.) Remember that they have met me before.

C.) what kind of bill I gave them

I decided a couple of years ago that maybe, I was the problem. So I learned their name and smile generously and make chit-chat. This only confused them more, thinking I was someone they knew from church or a teacher at the high School and became even more forgetful. So, I gave up and we when back to our Ground Hog day relationship..."This is to go, right?” The person I love to the best is the lady that does the cleaning and stocking, I'm thinking she obessive-complussive. There she is with her put together outfit, hairnet and glasses with spit guard at the sides. If I was an employer I would want her as my employee. When she stock the condiment's they've been sorted and neatly arranged. Straws are filled perfectly even with each other. Tables and floors so clean and Trash cans! Something to behold.

Indianapolis

Film Festivals

I have been to three gay and lesbian film Festivals in the pass six weeks. The smallest was in Kalamazoo, The largest in Detroit Friday we were in Indianapolis for a viewing of Fat Girls. The movie was made on a small budget by a 20 year old. I thought I would hate it for thoses reason, but I enjoyed - a lot. I wish more Gay and lesbian people would go to these events. The people who bitch about nothing to do, won't attend l gay film festivals for some strange reasons. Dull, too epensive not cool enough . Bah ,Bah, Bah I wonder if these festivals can keep going with such small turn outs. I have yet to go to sold out movie or movie opening. Royal Oak's Film Festival is a week long .It's big movie was Eating Out: sloppy seconds which was mindless -but funand well attented. So far none of these movie have any centeral character that are middle age. I waiting for the movie where I see 40-50 year olds up on the big screen or the small screen. Where is the next birdcage?

Sharpio's

I introduced David to Sharpio’s Kosher Style Deli’s in Indianapolis twelve years ago. I wanted to give David an added incentive to see a city he was reluctant to visit. Now he refuses to eat anywhere else. Friday, we ate supper there, Saturday lunch then again on Sunday when returning. Lucky for me – I love Jewish food especially New York Ruben’s. I had one on Friday and Sunday. Sharpio’s Deli is 100 years old this year, not bad for east coast deli’s in a mid-west city with a small Jewish population.

silence

I pulled into the Park this morning. It was deserted except for an illegally park police car who pulled away when I park next to him. The duck weren't out and they didn't come out at the sound of my car as they usually do. I opened my cars back door and got out a large cup of bird food. I stood there for a few minutes holding the cup and none of fowls seem to notice me. Finally I caught the attention of Natalie, my favorite duck, she waddle toward me and I placed some food on the ground. Next followed more wild female ducks then the males ducks waddling up to me. Finally the domesticated ducks swam toward the river bank and climbed the less steep path up to meal time. The ducks were unusually quiet this morning, the tame ducks are noisier ones and today even they were silence. I looked out at the hazy white-grey sky and then down at the birds. Each duck had their head down eating at the seed. All at once there was huge sound of wings flapping and they were gone, back in the river. I turned my head and the park remained empty. I turned my head back and on my right even to my head, glided a falcon down near the ground never landing but swooped close to where the ducks had been feeding. I waited for the ducks to return throwing out bits of feed. They appeared not to notice me. I threw out the remainder of the seed and looked over my shoulder to see the police car returning to the park. It was just so quiet and I felt chill go up my back.

Tampon Game

I upgraded to Yahoo messenger 8.1 this afternoon. I was talking to a friend on line this afternoon when the Playtex Tampon game appeared. I'm hoping that I hit a wrong link and that Yahoo isn't sharing this game with everyone. Suddenly there was a man and women smiling at me asking if I wanted one or two players? Humm...I'm thinking this is a game that should be played alone. Smiling faces in relationship to ladies hygiene pads? Not even on the other 28 day of the month. And think of the dubious honor of winning, "Hey guys I beat my wife at tampon last night but she got me back at backgammon." After several hours of rebooting and looking for exit links, I gave up and download 8.1.

Levi bar

I went to the leather Levi bar last night, there was a small crowd maybe 10 guys. The guys were all wearing pressed t-shirts neatly tucked into pressed jeans, black polish boots and belts, some had black leather vest on with run and club patches. I realize they are going for the butch look but I find them adorable. A tall dark hair guy with big blue eyes had a nick name similar to cubby only spelled with a K, which only added to his adorability . One couple was sitting in the sling using it like a front porch swing cuddling and laughing. I ended up drinking two bottled water and having conversation about Madonna and Cher with a guy in slave harness not what I expected from a leather bar, but still a good time.

Halloween

Halloween, the most scared of all the Gay Holiday and my favorite holiday. I attended a costume competing Tuesday night. Only a small number of people were dressed in costume. I was disappointed by the lack of men in drag. There was the cutest guy dressed as Puck, I wanted to made a nasty Limerick but then changed my mind. I was relieved no contestants were dressed as the Village People as its been done to death.
There is always a Cruella DeVille at these contests. This Cruella looked cheap compared to the Past Cruella's , only wear a black and white wig and Domatrix leather mini dress. She had a slave dressed as a dog looking like French poodle . He was wearing a grey curly wig, black jock strap and fluffy slippers too fat and fay to be a Dalmation.
