Theater Outing -Debbie Does Dallas

Saturday David and I seen "Debbie Does Dallas: The Musical". I had never seen the original and poor David, had never even seen a porno movie. My fear was that we wouldn't be able to follow the story line. The ticket lady assured us our worries were unfounded.

The play was great- bad porn dialog, campy musical number and a drag queen, all the things that make me happy. Kudos to the company for adding for having the cross dresser it made the girl or girl action much more funny.

The cheerleaders were all lovely and how they were able to keep it together during the pseudo sex is beyond me. I was trying to figure out a way to get my picture taken with them, but didn't have to nerve to ask

Fun Facts about Debbie Does Dallas:

The actress who played Debbie real named was not Bambi Woods -Ain't that a surprise

She states the movie caused her parents alot of grief (you think?) yet she made two sequels.

The actress was paid $400 for the original movie. ahhh... but it art

The movie was carful to call the cheerleader Dallas Cowgirl to avoid lawsuit from the Dallas Cowboy cheerleader

The actress who played Debbie tryed out for the Cowboy Cheerleaders but rejected.

Debbie does Dallas was made into a comic book series in 1991

Mid West Event -15 minutes of fame

Grand Rapids art museum is having an exhibition of Andy Warhol's silk screen art, called "Rapid Exposure". For those of you to young to remember Andy Warho, he was famous for multi -images of celebrities and soup cans in festive colors.

Growing up the seventy I remember Andy best for horror movies so violent they received an X-rating. Usually in movie houses so far away, it was a adventure to get there and back before your parent could catch on. In the late seventy he hung out with the sequin set of who's-who at club 54. Liza, Halstead and Andy in his famous bad wig were all there with white noses, discoing down with boogie fever. Making the papers while looking for rolling papers, all the while sex was in the hallways.
He passed away in 1986 giving us much more then 15 minutes of fame. He has a wonderful museum in Pittsburgh, PA his home town. Its a old warehouse where I suffered through my most embarrassing moment, in my life-but that story for much later.
It's worth the drive alone to see the "New" Grand Rapids Art Museum or GRAM (doesn't that sound sophisticated ) the only building in the world with a perfected environmental rating. "Rapid Exposure" runs until June 15.

A friend at work relayed this story.
Her son announced to his parents he was quitting his high paying job. His 4 years college had gotten him a high paying in a law firm. He was leaving the firm to go to cosmetology school.

Son left the room. Husband “ I was afraid of what he was going to say next”

Wife: “I know, I thought he was going to tell us gay”

Husband: “ I never thought of that. I was afraid he was going to ask us to pay for schooling again.”
