In 2008, the Kent State University Museum was honored to receive Katharine Hepburn's personal collection of film, stage and television costumes, as well as clothes worn by her for publicity purposes.

In celebration of the Museum's 25th anniversary year, Hepburn's performance clothes will be displayed in a very special exhibit including: stage costumes from The Philadelphia Story, Without Love and Coco; screen costumes from such classic films as Stage Door, Adam's Rib and Long Day's Journey Into Night; and many of her television movies, such as Love Among the Ruins. In addition, Hepburn's "signature look," an ensemble of tailored beige trousers and linen jackets, will be spotlighted, as will vintage posters, playbills, photos and other Hepburn-related artifacts.

The exhibit will also be supported by special events and programming on Hepburn's career, influence and life. These will take place at the Museum, across the Kent Campus and throughout Northeast Ohio.

Impressionist Landscapes: Monet to Sargent

This exquisite exhibition of over 70 luminous paintings includes many of the finest examples of mid-nineteenth through early twentieth century French and American landscapes from the Brooklyn Museum and Kentucky collections. French Impressionists painted highly elaborate “impressions”, the seemingly spontaneous, rapidly executed landscapes and cityscapes that prompted the name of their movement. This exhibition offers an in depth look at landscape painting as practiced by such leading French artists as Gustave Courbet and Claude Monet and their acclaimed American peers including Frederick Childe Hassam and John Singer Sargent.

Impressionist Landscapes: Monet to Sargent has been organized by the Brooklyn Museum.

My Fat Ass-3 weeks in

I'm finishing my 3rd week on the Very Low calorie Diet. After 3 weeks I have lost 24.5 pounds. That is a little more then a pound a day. Let me repeat that is little more then a pound day. The weight is falling off me so quickly, I'm amazed. I meet with the doctor weekly and get lab work drawn every two weeks. I am assured the diet is safe under supervision.

I've had 4 group meeting now, two with the behaviorist, one with the dietitian and exercise specialist. Tonight's meeting was exercise. We learned 10 simple body exercise that gives a total body workout. For the first time in my life I felt comfortable doing exercises in a group-everybody was out of shape like me. The exercises had great name like the Superman, Donkey Kicks, Zig Zag Hop and my personal favorite the Walking Lunges. We did 1 minute of the 10 exercises twice. I am tired.

I need to start doing facial exercises before I have a turkey waddle that hangs down to my nipple line. I'll to be tighting my face by holding my A,E,I,O and U. It's not a pretty site and for some reason I remenber to do at stop lights while driving. Maybe to scare the driver next to me.

A GOP-ruled House committee voted 8-4 along party lines Monday to advance the proposal, which now moves to the full House for consideration.

The amendment states that only marriage between one man and one woman is valid in Indiana, and prohibits civil unions by stating that a legal status "substantially similar" to marriage for unmarried people is not valid.

Constitutional amendments must go through two separate Legislatures before being put to a public vote, and an amendment banning gay marriage passed the General Assembly in 2005 when Republicans controlled the House and Senate. But in 2006, Democrats won control of the House and the proposal never cleared that chamber again, although some Democrats support the amendment.

This year — with Republicans back in control of the House and Senate — the amendment is back. And the arguments the House committee heard Monday were largely the same as in previous years

I lost 14 pounds on the first week on the very low caloric diet But it wasn't easy. I had periods of fatigue and diarrhea. What concerned me most was awful feeling in the morning until I ate. Light head, weak and sort of semi confused. The Doctor expressed some concern and now has increased the caloric total to somewhere around 950. I have notice a reduction in the wosie feeling when I awake. I going to start keeping some of high protein drink in the bathroom and take a couple of sips when I go to pee.

My great weight loss is the biggest they've had a the weight loss center. The doctor was quick to remind me it was mostly water weight. But I'll take 14 pounds gladly. My fat ass is just a little smaller.

The Tron sequel was an improvement on the first movie. God Knows, I love Jeff Bridges. The story was complex but easy to follow. Flynn's son falls in the video game like Alice with the rabbit hole. There he finds his Dad and Dads younger self video self called Clue. Well Surprise-Surprise, Clue it turns out isn't Pixar cute and has a plan for outer world domination. Sam Flynn, son of the Tron inventor, has to travel the grid with a hot babe to get to the portal to home. The Wonderful Wizard of Tron who get him home is Zuse. So someone sends our boy Son to Castor a disco tech who wants to dance and club all the time. Castor is all in white. with a That Girl flip, and small Fedora and light cane which he twirls like a baton. Castor its turn out is the superevil, supersmart and all powerful Zuse. Who Knew? All really powerful supervilians can be found drinking chi-chi drinks and shaking their behinds.

The bad thing about Castor/Zuse is it's nothing knew. It's homophobia at its purist. Hollywood has been doing for years. A disco-queen can't be just that they have tobe something more-something sinister. All big 'Mo keep secret and can't be trusted and agenda. Don't believe me ask any tea bagger, focus on the family or a large part of the community over 40. Movie like this reinforce that stereotype.

Michael Sheen the actor who played Castor/Zuse calls his chartacter pattern after Ziggy Stardusk and host from Cabaret. Ziggy Stardusk was the sexly ambiguous character by David Bowie. Cabaret takes place in a gay bar called the Kit kat club. I arrived at 5pm at the hospital weight loss center. I check in at the front desk and got my first week of food. The total for the food and cost of the meeting was $160. Thirty dollars of it was meeting the rest for food. The food included 7 entrees at $4.00 each. 2 6 pack of premade drink at $12 each and three 7 pack protein bars. The rest of the food was oat mill, soy snacks and omelet mix. It was 30 dollar for the meeting.

The meeting started at 6pm. There were 5 men and 7 women. The group leader was the behaviorist. The topic was support system. First we introduced ourselves with our biggest challenge of the week. Mine of course was simple just getting started on the program and everyone presented reasonable goal. Then we discuss support system.

My Fat Ass -Diettian visit

Before I Could see the dietitian, I had to place my initials by the programs rule. The rules consisted of 2 pages of things such thing as keeping a journals every day and wear gym clothes on exercise day. They want to know you taking this program seriously. Then I was had to pay $200- this visit was not covered by my insurance. The 200 gets me 3 more visits with either the dietitian, the behaviorist or the exercise instructor.

The dietitian outlined how the program worked. I get 800 to 900 calorie a day. You buy their food ,called product, and you keep a total in a journal. In your journal you also keep track of exercise and water taken in. I will be getting bi-weekly blood work- a Complete blood count and be seen by the doctor. After 10 weeks of I will transition back to regular food and begin a 1200-1400 calorie diet.
The dietitian help me pick out my product. I will eat only one entree per day. I may eat up to 2 high protein bars. The rests of the food are my choice. I with eat "produce" five times a day-preferably before I get hungry. All sounds simple enough- I start the following Monday

My Fat Ass- first Doctor Visits

On arrival to Doctor, her assistance get your measurements, weight and muscle mass. The use a machine called a Tanita. That tanita measure things I really don't understand. But one of those thing is fat to muscle ratio.I thought about lying to to the doctor.I didn't want to appear like a complete lay a about and little piggy. I even expressed the ideal to David.
But- David always the straight shooter and truth teller-assuranced no harm would be done by telling the truth. He was wrong. The Doctor snicker when I told her I didn't exercise, gasp about the amount of soft drinks I take in, and totally lost it when I told loose 40 pounds about every other year, then gain in back.
The Doctor read my results of the Tanita. And here is the kicker- I have lots of muscle compared to my fat. It shows that with the loss of as little as 40IB I'll be in healthy range. My BMI show much more that I need to lose a lot then that. The Doctor was sure I was lying about working out.

The orientation is held in the large meeting room in the medical building. First I must tell you that you sign an agreement to ask questions. Hard to image that someone would lay out this kind of money and without checking everything out. It was snowy that evening and there were only 3 attendee- really only 2 one was spouse. The dietitians give the details of the different plans. The very low calorie plan, the half ass plan or the 1200-1400 calorie plan.
I went with the very low calorie plan. My reason is I'm tired of weight plateaus. For the past 15 year I loss 35 to 40 pound every other year then I'm stuck. I don't mean for a couple of weeks I mean months at time. I just too old to go through it again. The difficulty of keeping spirits up is just hard. I had to try something new.

How does a 800-900 calorie diet work? Everything were told is more calorie you take away the more the body keep in reserve. The meals are designed to high protein. You eat small qualities of food or beverage 5 times throughout the day. Protein keeps the muscle you have while keeping your Metabolism high. You also must do resistive exercises to keep building muscle .

The biggest groans of the evening when I asked about caffeine. Only 16 ounce of diet cola a day or one cup of coffee. I knew this was going to trouble spot -I can feel a headache coming on.

I loved this movie-David not so much. I enjoyed it because it was unpredicable. David felt like it was embrassemnt to gay men-especially the over indulged life style. I thought the love scenes invovling Jim Carry and Ewan Mcgregor were touching and sweet. There appeared to be actual sexual chemistry between the two.

The Agony & The Agony delves into an issue with which no Detroiter is unfamiliar: when one has been doing the same thing for so long, and it's no longer working, what does one do? What does it mean to age? What is the nature of success?

Richard Aglow, a (failed?) playwright, has just begun to write a play hoping to illuminate the issue through the character of Nathan Leopold, Jr., a self-proclaimed Nietzschean superman who rose to infamy by committing "the crime of the century" at the age of 17 and then seemingly vanished into obscurity. Richard's wife Lela (who married him in spite of his homosexuality) has just had a chance run-in with a Broadway producer who may be able to resurrect her career, but the plans of both come skidding to an impasse with the arrival of Lela's lover, his pregnant girlfriend… and Nathan Leopold, Jr., who does not think so much of Richard's play. In true Nicky Silver fashion, all is eventually resolved and important conclusions reached, but not before the playwright has us aching from laughter and psychic discomfort, reveling in the humor of this bizarre situation and empathizing with its undeniable familiarity.

The cast includes Connie Cowper (Rochester Hills), Jonathan Davidson (Ferndale), Keith Kalinowski (Ann Arbor), Alan Madlane (Ferndale), Molly McMahon (Detroit) and Dalibor Stolevski (Oakland Twp.). Gwen Lindsay exhibits her scenic design; lighting by Neil Koivu; costumes by Katie Casebolt.

I was hoping this would be one those book I could pass around at work. Let one co-worker read it and from there it goes to where ever. Bounding with each time with my chum over Jim Norton's wit and wisdom. This I'm afraid is not the book for bonding with my worker chums who are mostly ladies.
I think Jim Norton is brilliant. I laugh and laugh. His foul mouth they would enjoy.No problem there. But within the first four chapter he's discussed his asshole three times. Believe it or not, I could explain that easier then his fascination with hookers (Ok, Just why do you find this funny?)
The bonding over a book with co-working is just going to have to wait. Maybe I'll bring in a box of chocolates.

We flew into Orlando mostly- but not entirely because of cheap airline ticket. I say mostly because I did have some disire to see Universal studio's Halloween Fest. The moment my body hit the sun any thoughts of an amusement park went out the window. We had to drive directly from the airport to Universal because of the way the tickets were arranged.

Universal has two theme parks and the City Walk. The City Walk is the area of restaurants and bars open to the public without paiding admission to the Park. There the classic Universal Studio Park with the typical movie studio rides. We opted for the Island of Adventure Park

The Islands of Adventure consist of 7 islands each with a different theme. David and I were most excited by the Harry Potter Island- with its singing frog and dancing witches. We weren't disappointed. It was the popular favorite with everyone and crowds were everywhere.

David manage to bust my rollercoster cherry by talking me into the Fight of hippograff (AKA the kiddie rollercoaster). It was enough excitment for me and must of satisflied his rollercoast needs because rollercoaster wasn't mention while in the Park
