Midwest event in Ferndale MI -Ringwald theater

Jeffrey

By Paul RudnickMay 16th - June 9th, 2008Reserve Your Tickets HERE!!
It's 1993 and Jeffrey, a gay actor/waiter, has sworn off sex after too many bouts with his partners about what is 'safe' and what is not. Suddenly, just after he's reconciled himself to celibacy, Jeffrey's flamboyant friends introduce him to the man of his dreams, who happens to be HIV-positive. What follows is an audacious and moving romantic comedy with a difference—one in which the quest for love and really fabulous clothes meet, and where unflagging humor prevails even when tragedy might be just around the corner.
I hope I can make to Ferndale for this. everything I've seen in at the Ringwald has been wonderful. Alway great Fun

threater outing - Die Mommie Die

David and I were lucky enough to see "Die Mommie Die" at the Theater on the Square on April 16. It's a Charles Busch play based on the old Joan Crawford /Bette Davis movie. It was great fun, This is the third production we have seen there. Each show had a large gay audience- and has increased in size. We were glad to see the theater has caught on.

Dick York's grave

I managed to find Dick York's grave today. I've been trying to find it since last spring. Mapquest wasn't to much help with the location. When I did find the graveyard the weather was so bad I couldn't look for because of the snow. It's a small grave stone by the road. I found the marker as much by accident as looking for it.

Richard York was the first and my personal favorite Darrin on Bewitched. The first two seasons of Bewitched in black and white are magic on the screen. Those early episodes were more of romantic comedy then the later episodes. The interplay between Elizabeth Montgomery and Dick are fantastic.

Mr. York suffered back problems and later had to leave the show. He died in Rockford MI, having lost any money he made on the series. He did not want anybody pity, stating the last years of life were his happiest. He work with Mel Trotter mission raising money for the homeless.
It's rumored his last word were "I was the better Darrin" ... but thats only a rumor

Plan B: worked like a charm

Steven Scarborough received a sentence of a 15 Max instead of felony life in prison for the beating death of Victor Manious. Late in the trial, Steven, who changed the story of the beating several times added Gay Panic to his story.
Mr. Manious suddenly went from victim to stalker , Predator and all around pervert. Mr. Scarborough went from low life running away from a felony charge to Southern Baptist Poster Child- an innocent child in a very dirty world.

Victor's family is scrambles trying to connect the dots between the person they knew and Down-Lower they are hearing about on the witness stand. Their suffering and confusion was the headline in the Grand Rapids Press (April 10.2008)- maybe it time a name is do to Grand Rapids Enquirer. Interesting enough the use of gay defense on April 8. was hidden inside the paper.
Mr. Scarborough is now going to felony charges in Tennessee, that may add another 20 years to his sentence. I'm trying not to think about him getting more time for stealing then a murder.
My guess Steven will have a easy adjustment in prison where he won't experience any "Gay Panic".
My only solace in this whole messy, dirty trial is everyone is upset by it, Conservative and liberals.
Thanks Pam from Pam's House Blend , for writing about it on her blog.

Plan-B: The Gay Panic Defense

The Gay Panic Defense, has pops-up again.this time in Grand Rapids Michigan. Scott Scarborough 21 hit Victor Manious in the head with a baseball bat and put him in the truck of his car alive. He was found two days later, dead.

Scott and Victor were partying at the local gay bars the night before. Scott who was staying at friends house states he was passed out ( he thinks he was hit in the head but there is no physical proof) when he came to, Victor was performing oral sex on him. Being raised strict- Southern Baptist (his words -not mine ) he panic and hit him in the head with a baseball bat. Then with the help or a friend he placed his alive body in Victor's truck-after he took his cash and credit cards- but he did so in a panic. Scott then high tailed it to Texas where he was arrested by the police.
By the way, Victor was married and big church goer himself.

The sad thing about the Gay Panic Defense is that it works- time and again. All you need is to cloud the issue. Make the killer look like a victim. Demonize the real victim and get a Conservative jury who are shock by gay going ons and then wel-ah. The jury will be shaking his hand and crying about what a poor boy and how he suffered.
Don't believe me?-do a little research.
