Death In West Michigan

This month's require reading for my book club is Thomas Mann's Death in Venice. It pretty much sums up all my worst fears of getting older in 77 pages.
Its the story of Aschenbauh who led a quiet life. Aschenbauh in his older year who becomes enchanted with a fourteen year old boy,Tadzio while vacationing in Venice. Aschenbauh begins to acting like a school girl, he even get to the point of coloring his hair and wearing make-up.
In the end as a gay novels he die, He does get a beckoning look from Tadzio in a dream,so he gets to at least die happy courtesy of the sandman.

There a was updated version of this novel in the movie Love and Death in Long Island in 1997(I'm not making the this up). The story is similar except its a English widower played by John Hunt, who begin stalking a American B-movie star played by Jason Priestly(yum). Onces again our leading man doesn't get any luckier then a friendship. But this time at the end of the movie, he scruggs off his adolestion behavior and goes on in merry way(my kinda guy). Hey it who I was, Lets get pass it now!. Jason love letter in hand, is like totally screwd up by the whole thing ( good going John!).
I like this updated version better. While no body get in lovin' but our Englishman gentleman comes out of the expeirence a better man. No body dieds no wasted life
