Boys in the Band, the original truth or dare movie, comes out November 11, 2008. The movie was considered ground breaking in 1970. By 1973 the movie was an considered offensive and stereotypical. Mark Crowley wrote this play and screenplay based on various gay dinner party he attended in the 60's. While the movie has a mean spirited tone its not totally inaccurate of the time. I've been to couple of those dinner party in the mid-70's myself. Looking at Boys in the Band now, its doesn't seem all that bad. It's a period piece of sort looking a time when all we had was bars and dinner party -oh and a lot of self loathing.
